Kappa is Back - Return of a Classic: The Anniston Jacket and AstoriaPants

Founded as a sock and underwear company in Turin, Italy, in 1916, the current Kappa brand was officially registered in 1967, yet it did not feature their now universally recognized "Omini" logo, the silhouette of a man (left) and woman (right) sitting back-to-back in the nude, until two years later.

Developed as the athletic compliment of the Robe di Kappa brand, Kappa stood on it's own to become heritage line dedicated to casual sportswear and technical gear in 1968 and have since been an industry leader as one of the top 5 sporting brands in the world.

In 1979, Kappa became the first brand to sponsor a sporting team. Their sponsorship of the champion Italian Juventus Football Club, lead to partnerships with world's top soccer teams such as A.C. Milan, F.C. Barcelona and the Italian National team for the UEFA Euro Cup in 2000. Over 50 years Kappa continued to gain popularity and recognition across Europe. Kappa became a household name in North America during the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles when the USA Track and Field Team wore Kappa sportswear and took home a grand total of 50 metals: 26 gold, 15 silver and 9 bronze.

Kappa's tradition of aligning itself with the best teams and players in sports continues today as the sponsor of associations such as A.S. Roma, Fulham F.C., the Jamaican National team along with many others. Kappa does not limit its sponsorships to soccer clubs, but also sponsors leading rugby, basketball, volleyball, rally, skiing, golf, fencing and martial arts teams, as well as many sports federations.
